The Rand Corporation study ‘invisible wounds of war’, has revealed a disturbing truth about the health of our military as recently as 2008: More than 300,000 veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan suffer from PTSD or major depression. According to the RAND report, these ‘invisible wounds’ to take a heavy toll – impact on quality of life of veterans, which hinders their performance at work, the labor of their families and placing them at higher risk for violent behavior and destructive. Yet, despite the heavy toll of PTSD and depression, only half of the affected veterans seeking treatment, and only one third of those who do not receive adequate care.
